Retirement Income Planning in Grand Prairie
Once the paychecks stop, the real question is how much will arrive each month. We add up every source you'll have, find the shortfall, and lay out written options with each cost and limit listed. Nothing gets decided until you've had time to read it.
A Paycheck Plan for the Years After Work
By the time work winds down, most people hold a mix of income sources. There's usually a Social Security benefit, sometimes a pension, savings in a 401(k) or IRA, and now and then a life policy that has built cash value. The challenge is turning that mix into steady income that lasts as long as you do. Retirement income planning is how we work that out with you.
Our part is the insurance side of the plan. That can mean a fixed annuity that pays a set amount each month, a permanent policy whose cash value you can draw on, or coverage that protects a spouse if a pension stops at your death. We explain how each one works, what it costs and what you give up. For tax questions, we'll suggest you check with your tax preparer, and we're glad to share our notes with them.
Every recommendation comes to you on paper first. If a product carries surrender charges or rider fees, you'll see them listed before you sign anything.
What We Cover Together
An income map
We list every income source you expect, when each one starts and roughly what it pays. Seeing it side by side often answers half your questions.
Your monthly shortfall
Next, we set that income against what you plan to spend each month. Whatever is left uncovered becomes the target for the rest of the plan.
Annuity options explained
If a guaranteed monthly payment makes sense, we walk through fixed and fixed indexed annuities, payout choices and surrender periods in plain language.
A look at policies you already own
Permanent coverage bought years ago may have built up cash you can borrow against or withdraw. We go through the contract itself and give you a straight answer on how much it could add each month, and what tapping it would cost your coverage.
Spouse and beneficiary protection
If your pension pays less or stops after your death, we look at coverage that keeps your spouse's income steady, and we check every beneficiary line.
A written summary
You leave with a line-by-line summary of each option, its costs and its trade-offs, so you can compare at the kitchen table without us in the room.
When Retirement Income Planning Makes Sense Now
You plan to stop working within five years
That window is when decisions about Social Security timing and pension payouts begin to become permanent. Starting early keeps more choices open.
Your savings haven't been turned into income yet
Plenty of people can quote their 401(k) balance but have no idea what it adds up to each month once work ends. Converting that balance into a steady monthly figure is where we start.
Your pension asks you to pick a payout
Single-life versus joint-and-survivor is a permanent decision. It's worth comparing against life insurance options before you sign the pension form.
Market swings keep you up at night
Some people want part of their income guaranteed regardless of the market. We can show what that costs and how much of your savings it would take.
An old policy is sitting in a drawer
A policy bought decades ago may have grown cash value you've forgotten about. Or it may be costing more than it's worth. Either way, you should know.
How Planning Works With Us
- 1
A first phone conversation
You tell us when you hope to retire, what you have and what worries you. There's no cost and no pressure to buy anything.
- 2
Gathering your numbers
We ask for your Social Security estimate, pension statements and any policies you own. We meet at your business or wherever works for you, anywhere from Grand Prairie to Arlington or Mansfield.
- 3
Your written options
We put together two or three approaches with the monthly income each produces, every fee and every restriction spelled out. Nothing gets added later.
- 4
Questions, then a decision
We go through the summary line by line and answer whatever comes up. Should you decide to go ahead with a product, we take care of the paperwork and follow up with you after the policy takes effect.
What Shapes the Cost of Your Plan
There's no charge for the planning conversation or the written summary. Any costs come only from products you pick, and you're never required to pick one. Each fee appears on paper so you can weigh it first.
- How much income you want guaranteed
- The larger the guaranteed monthly payment, the more of your savings goes into an annuity or policy to fund it.
- Your age when payments start
- Starting income later usually means a higher payment for the same amount invested, because the money has longer to grow and fewer years to cover.
- Riders and features
- Lifetime income riders, inflation adjustments and spousal continuation add value and add fees. We show each one separately so you can keep or drop it.
- Surrender periods
- Many annuities limit withdrawals for several years. A shorter surrender period typically means a lower credited rate, and we'll show you that trade-off clearly.
- Your health, for life coverage
- If the plan includes a life policy to protect a spouse, your health and age set the premium, just as they would with term life or whole life.
Retirement Income Questions We Hear Often
Something not covered here? (972) 373-3976
Do you manage investments or stocks?
No. We work on the insurance side of retirement income: annuities, life insurance cash value and survivor coverage. If you have an investment advisor, we're happy to coordinate so the pieces fit.
Is an annuity right for everyone?
No, and we'll tell you if it isn't right for you. Annuities tie up money for a period and carry fees. They make the most sense when you want part of your income guaranteed and have other savings for flexibility.
Should I take the single-life or joint pension payout?
It depends on your spouse's age, health and other income. Sometimes taking the higher single-life payment and buying life coverage protects your spouse for less. We'll run both ways in writing so you can compare.
Can I use my existing whole life policy for retirement income?
Possibly. Many whole life and universal life policies allow loans or withdrawals against cash value. We'll read your policy, explain how borrowing affects the coverage your beneficiary receives, and show you the numbers.
How long does planning take?
Usually a phone call and one or two meetings. Most of the time goes into gathering your statements. Once we have them, your written options follow, and you can take as long as you need to decide.

Know Your Monthly Number Before You Retire
